My love for sewing started at the age of ten. I know, right, most 10 year old's were outside playing, but I enjoyed creating and seeing what I could do on my sewing machine. By the time I was twelve I was making clothes for my sister and myself. Even working fulltime I have always found time to sew. I am now starting a new chapter in my life and making quilts and sewing is my full time job now. My day is always better if I am able to spend some time quilting, whether it is piece work, designing, or finishing a quilt. To me quilting is like painting on a blank canvas, you look at the fabric and think what can I do with this and then the pieces start coming together and when you're done you have a beautiful piece of art you created. I love giving my friends and family my quilts because they are not only getting a beautiful piece of art, but a piece of me, a love for my sewing.
Growing up with two older sisters, both whom sewed along with our Mom, it was pretty obvious I was going to learn to sew. I made a few dresses, and maternity clothes, and even t-shirts for my son when he was a small boy. However, sewing wasn't exciting to me...until one day a friend at work brought in a quilt she had made. I fell in love with the idea of quilting and joined her on a few quilt shop hops and I was hooked....line and sinker! I made a t-shirt quilt for my mom for her birthday from some of her travels and even put some of the photos she had taken on them as well (loved printing photos onto material-like fabric). I agree with Margaret, when you start with a few pieces of fabric and start putting them together it is like a blank artist's canvas. You are the painter creating memories out of material instead of paints. Creating and watching each quilt come to life is what I love to do.
Margaret has a Nolting Pro 30, which sits on a 14 ft. frame. She had a 10 Lizzie which sat on a 10 ft. frame. She just upgraded to the Nolting, and man is it big and wonderful! We have lots of designs to choose from, or we can customize your quilt just for you.
We are passionate about quilting and would love the opportunity to work with you in helping you with your quilt. By designing it, sewing it, or quilting it on the longarm. Contact Margaret with questions, or about working with you on your quilt at 417-850-1625.
